Prokeimenon. Grave Tone. Psalm 149.5,1.
The saints shall rejoice in glory.
Verse: Sing to the Lord a new song.
The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 5:22-26; 6:1-2.
Brethren, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us have no self-conceit, no provoking of one another, no envy of one another. Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Look to yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
5th Sunday of Matthew
The Reading is from Matthew 8:28-34; 9:1
At that time, when Jesus came to the country of the Gergesenes, two demoniacs met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one would pass that way. And behold, they cried out, "What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?" Now a herd of many swine was feeding at some distance from them. And the demons begged him, "If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine." And he said to them, "Go." So they came out and went into the swine; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and perished in the waters. The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, and what had happened to the demoniacs. And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their neighborhood. And getting into a boat he crossed over and came to his own city.

At just 43 years old, Dimitrios Psomas is battling end-stage renal failure and urgently needs a living kidney donor. This would give him the chance to spend more time with his loved ones and look forward to a healthier future.
You can help by getting screened as a potential donor. To see if you could be a match, visit https://cornell.donorscreen.org/register/now. For more information, contact the Weill Cornell Transplant Center at (212) 746-3099 or by email at [email protected]. Our friend Harry Cashy cared very much about St. Herman’s and its mission. Harry put in motion a golf outing in 2014 that has become a substantial fundraiser for St. Herman’s. The 13th annual St. Herman Golf Classic is July 13 at Elyria Country Club.
In 2017, a year after Harry’s passing, a group of Harry’s friends organized a sponsorship by the “Friends of Harry Cashy” to support St. Herman’s in memory of Harry. This will be the tenth year that the Friends of Harry have come together to support the St. Herman Golf Classic in Harry’s memory.
If you would like to be a part of the Friends of Harry donation, you can donate by (1) clicking https://sainthermans.org/golf/, (2) scrolling to and checking the “Make a Contribution” box, (3) selecting the amount and checking the “St. Herman Golf Donor - Friend of Harry Cashy”, and (4) clicking the next button and finishing the submission. If you have any questions about the Friend of Harry sponsorship, please contact Gus Kallergs ([email protected] or 216.410.6306).

Saint Makrina Bible Study will be taking a break from our present book to read A Life of Miracles: A Physician's Encounters with the Divine by Dr. Michael Kellis.
“In A Life of Miracles, Dr. Kellis shares remarkable true stories of extraordinary moments - when terminal illness reversed, when despair gave way to faith, and when light overcame darkness. Drawing from his years as a physician, researcher, and believer, he recounts incredible moments that point to a reality beyond chance or coincidence.” All proceeds from the book will be donated to Sts. Constantine and Helen Library.
We meet every Wednesday at 9:30 am over Zoom. You do not have to attend every session and can participate in the discussions as much or as little as you wish. We would love to have you join us! Please contact Toni Madden at [email protected] for the zoom link.
