WEEKLY MESSAGE
When we trust God and do His Holy Will,
He satisfies our material needs
.
The neglected people heard Christ with joy the whole day,
Although they were in the desert without food and drink.
Christ’s Disciples felt first the physical hunger and thirst.
They asked Jesus to let the starving people go for food.
.
“You give them something to eat,” Jesus told His Disciples.
Surprised they said to Him: “A little child has 5 loaves and 2 fishes.”
“Bring the fish and the breads here.” Jesus prayed to His Father.
He raised His eyes to His heavenly Father, as an obedient Child.
.
The miracle happened. Christ was passing out the bread and fish.
He was giving the food to His Disciples to give it to the people.
Five thousand men, plus women and children, ate and were filled.
Twelve baskets full of leftovers the Apostles gathered afterwards.
.
The neglected people from their leaders found compassion and love.
First, they heard with joy the Word of God and enjoyed the experience.
Secondly, Christ, the Son of God, healed their sick with His Power.
Finally, Christ satisfied their hunger and thirst as He did of old.
.
The word of God we read in the Bible satisfies our spirit.
The material food which we receive daily sustains our body.
Indeed, we need first spiritual food to feed our starving soul,
And then God will provide us with material food for our body.
.
For this reason, Christ told all His faithful followers in the Bible
“To seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness,”
And everything else will be provided by the providence of God.
We are all invited to His Church for healing, and spiritual food.
.
With His blessing we will enjoy both gifts, physical and spiritual.
.
With love, Fr. John P. Angelis

Of these Saints, Olympas and Rodion became disciples of Peter, the chief Apostle, and came to Rome, where they were beheaded by Nero. The others reposed in peace, having become bishops: Sosipater of Iconium, Quartus of Beirut, and Erastus of Paneas, or Paneias (which was also called Caesarea of Philippi); Saint Erastus had been chamberlain of the city of Corinth (Rom.16:23).
Saint Orestes was from Tyana of Cappadocia. During the persecution of Diocletian, this Martyr's ankles were pierced with long nails; being bound to a wild horse and violently dragged by it, he gave up his spirit in the year 289.

Prokeimenon. Third Tone. Psalm 46.6,1.
Sing praises to our God, sing praises.
Verse: Clap your hands, all you nations.
The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 1:11-19.
Brethren, I would have you know that the gospel which was preached by me is not man's gospel. For I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it; and I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and had called me through his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not confer with flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia; and again I returned to Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas, and remained with him fifteen days. But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord's brother.
8th Sunday of Luke
The Reading is from Luke 10:25-37
At that time, a lawyer stood up to put Jesus to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read?" And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you will live."
But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.' Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?" He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

CHURCH SERVICES
Greek Orthodox Divine Liturgy. Each month, we try to have at least one Divine Liturgy (with a visiting Priest). That Service is normally on a Saturday (or a Special Service/Feast weekday) and is scheduled when a Priest is available. In addition to communion during the Service, private meetings with the Priest are available by appointment (for personal matters, planning future events, and Confession).
Special Invitation - Saint Nectarios Church welcomes all: During Divine Liturgy, which is mostly in English, the Lord's Prayer is said by parishioners in their native languages. Currently the prayer is normally said in English, Arabic, Russian, Spanish, and Greek. If you wish to participate (and perhaps add a language), just let us know.
On most weeks, we remotely celebrate Saturday Vespers and Sunday Online Divine Liturgy with Father John in the Seattle area. During the remote Divine Liturgy, Communion is served to Father's attending family and friends - but is unavailable to those participating online.
Online Greek Orthodox Vespers and Other Special Services are normally celebrated online with Father John in Seattle. The link for joining Zoom to actively participate in on-line Services is
https://goarch.zoom.us/j/98009355049?pwd=UmttUUN2aG4raUc4WS9Zelo1REYxdz09
On the last Sunday of each month, there normally is a Typica Reader Service with a Parish Fellowship Time. This in-Church Service is held as an opportunity to bring the local community together - and hopefully eventually returning St. Nectarios to having a full time Priest.
All are welcome to join in the celebration these Christian Orthodox Services.
