ALWAYS A SPIRITUAL FOCUS, FIRST
Dear Parish Families,
I'm cleared to return to life. It's been ten days of rest and isolation. But it gave time for prayer and reflection. My lesson is to use even illness as a means for growth, to save energy and realise what is most valuable: our health, our welfare, each other. See you in Church and let us all pray for each other to weather what gets thrown at us.
Faithfully, Father Samaras

Eothinon 1 Sunday of the Publican and the Pharisee

synaxarion of the month. On the fifth day of the first month, in memory of the Holy Martyr Agathe. On this day, in memory of Saint Father of Theodosius of Skopelos. On this day, in memory of Saint Patra of Polyefktos, Partiarch of Constantinople. Remembrance of the Holy Martyr Antony, of Athens, of Constantinople, martyred by the sword, according to his son (1774). The Triodion. On this day of the End and the Pharisee of the Holy Gospel of Luke (r. 10–14) we are given a parable.
The Epistle The 33rd Sunday, of the Publican and Pharisee
Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we hope in You.
Rejoice greatly in the Lord, O righteous ones; praise is fitting for the upright.
The reading is from Saint Paul's Second Letter to Timothy 3:10-15
Timothy, my son, you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions, my sufferings, what befell me at Antioch, at Iconion, and at Lystra, what persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived.
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. [RSV] PRIEST Peace be with you the reader.
The Gospel Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee
The reading is from the holy Gospel according to Saint Luke 18:10-14
The Lord said this parable, "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I get.' But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."
The Apostle Kyriaki LG Telos and Pharisee
Behold, O Lord, thy mercy hath come unto us, and we have hoped for thee.
Rejoice, the righteous, in the Lord; the euthesis must be aesis.
3 Timothy Paul 10:15-<>
Child Timothy, my follower of the teachings, of the education, of the intentions, of the faith, of the long-suffering, of the love, of the isolation, of the persecution, of the suffering, of the likeness of the people who were born in Antioch, in Ἰkoniῳ, ἐν Lystrois; the persecutors who persecuted me and of all things with the lord. And all those who want to live in Christ Jesus are persecuted; cunning, human beings and charmers are prosperous from the earth, wandering and wandering. Thou shalt not be taught and believed, but in spite of whom we have learned, and that from the infant of the holy letters of God, the mighty wisdom of salvation through the faith of Christ Jesus the Lord.
The Evangelion Sunday of the End and the Pharisee
According to Luke, the Holy Angel r. 9-14
It is the Lord of these parables; Two people came to the holy prayers, the Pharisees and the greatest tax collector. The Pharisee stood before these things he prayed; God, thank you that I am the father of all men, the fathers, the righteous, the adulterers, the adulterers, and the publican; I fast on the Sabbath day, I have always been built. and the publican from afar in the place where he wished to see the eye of the eye, but he printed it in the name of this saying; God, he was like a martyr. I say to myself, 'Come down the one who has been justified in the name of the one who has been killed.' That if he is humiliated, he is not humbled.
