FATHER SAMARAS
ALWAYS A SPIRITUAL FOCUS FIRST
Dearest Parishioners,
This week teaches us that time is moving so quickly. Already, we are at the Sunday before Christmas. Please notice, when you attend this Sunday, that the longest Gospel lesson is featured which showcases the lineage of Jesus Christ. And why is this so important? Because his lineage shows his identity as the Messiah.
One of the greatest risks that we, ourselves, run is amnesia. By which I mean, from our many migrations and relocations, we sometimes don't know our own ancestries. Who are our grandparents? Sure, we may know that. But who are our great-grandparents? Where did they come from? What were their stories, their immigrations, their sacrifices? It took me some deliberate days to go back to my families "home village" in Boston to spend a day at the Woburn Town courthouse to find the death certificates of my grandparents and, there, to find listed the names of their parents: my great-grandparents. After a lifetime, I had names and details. From there, I was able to write to our home village in Greece and get further information. It was an emotional feeling for me to find this connection.
This is why the idea of ancestry is so important for our children. It gives us a sense of completion, a sense of where we come from. There can be no greater gift. Ask your children if they know their ancestry and how far back does it go? It will be the most worthy gift you can give to your family. Take the time to do a bit of research.
This is why our connection to the Saints becomes so important, a vital link to our prayer lives. This is why we've been spending this month in discussion via zoom on various saints and why they are important for us to develop a relationship with. I especially invite all of you to join me next Tuesday during our next zoom discussion. Bring questions and join our conversation.
Faithfully, Father Samaras

On December 18th, we commemorate the holy martyr Sebastian and those with him: Zoe, Tranquillinos, Nikostratos, Claudius, Castor, Tiburtius, Castulus, Marcellinus, and Mark; the holy martyr Evbiotos; our devout father Floros, Bishop of Amisos; the holy martyrs Phokas and Hermylos; the holy martyrs Zacchaeos the Deacon and Alfaeos the Reader, who contested in Caesarea; the holy miracle-worker Sophia; and the occasion of the Consecration of the eminent Church of the Most Holy Theotokos in Chalkoprateia; our devout father Michael the Chancellor, the Confessor; and on this day, the Sunday before the Nativity of Christ, we have been enjoined by our holy and God-bearing Fathers to commemorate all those who from the beginning of time were well-pleasing to God, from Adam to Joseph the Betrothed of the Most Holy Theotokos, according to the genealogy, as the Evangelist Luke enumerated in historical order; and also the Prophets and Prophetesses.
Synaxarion of the month. The IH of this month in memory of the Holy Martyr Sebastian and his sons, Zoe, Tragulin, Nicostratos, Claudius, Castor, Tribourtius, Castulus, Marcellinus, and Markou. On this day, the memory of the Holy Martyr Eubiotos. On this day, the memory of Saint Patra of Floros, Bishop of Aminaso. On this day of remembrance of the Holy Martyrs Phocis and Ἑrmylos, through the sword finished. On this day, the memory of the Holy Martyrs Zacchaeus deacon and the Ἀlfios ἀνας, the athletes of Caesarea. This is the day of remembrance of the Holy and Miraculous Wisdom, and the inauguration of the venerable Father of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the Chalcoprateians. And the memory of St. Patrick Michael Sykellos, the Confessor. On this day, Sunday before the Nativity of Christ, we were remembered in the presence of our Holy and God-bearing Fathers, all of whom were blessed by God, who were pleased. Until the time of the betrothal of the Blessed Virgin Mary, according to the genealogy, as the Evangelist Luke was numbered; as well as the Prophets and the Prophets.
The Epistle Sunday Before Christmas
Blessed are You, O Lord God of our fathers.
For You are righteous in all You did for us.
The reading is from Saint Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 11:9-10, 32-40
Brethren, by faith Abraham sojourned in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he looked forward to the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets—who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and scourging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were killed with the sword; they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, illtreated—of whom the world was not worthy —wandering over deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
And all these, though well attested by their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had foreseen something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.
The Gospel Sunday Before Christmas
The reading is from the holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew 1:1-25
The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram, and Ram the father of Ammin′adab, and Ammin ′adab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon, and Salmon the father of Bo ′az by Rahab, and Bo′az the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David the king. And David was the father of Solomon by the wife of Uri′ah, and Solomon the father of Rehobo′am, and Rehobo′am the father of Abi′jah, and Abi′jah the father of Asa, and Asa the father of Jehosh ′aphat, and Jehosh′aphat the father of Joram, and Joram the father of Uzzi′ah, and Uzzi′ah the father of Jotham, and Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezeki′ah, and Hezeki′ah the father of Manas′seh, and Manas ′seh the father of Amos, and Amos the father of Josi′ah, and Josi′ah the father of Jechoni′ah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon. And after the deportation to Babylon: Jechoni′ah was the father of Sheal′tiel, and Sheal′tiel the father of Zerub′babel, and Zerub ′babel the father of Abi′ud, and Abi′ud the father of Eli′akim, and Eli′akim the father of Azor, and Azor the father of Zadok, and Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eli′ud, and Eli′ud the father of Elea ′zar, and Elea′zar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.
So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emman′uel" (which means, God with us).
When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife, but knew her not until she had borne a son; and he called his name Jesus.
The Apostle Sunday before the Nativity of Christ
Prayer of the Holy Trinity Children. It is the Lord's Lord, the God of our fathers.
That he is righteous, who is righteous, who has made us.
Before the Jewish Apostles Paul Heb. 11:9-10, 32-40
Brothers, believe that the Jews have come to us in the presence of the promise of the other, in the tent of the dwelling with TheOdore and the co-heirs of the promise of the lords; He accepted the foundations of the city, a craftsman and a creator of God. And what do I say? the time passed by Gideon, Barak, Samson, Ἱefthae, David and Samuel and the prophets, who, by faith, denounced the kingdom, worked righteousness, succeeded in the proclamation, blocked the mouths of lions, extinguished firepower, stabbed mouths, and strengthened their mouths. women have been taken from the resurrection of their dead; others have not been stunned, who have been bound to the multiplicity, to be a cretinous resurrection of fortune; More than those who have been beaten, and who have been whipped, who have not been bound and imprisoned; they have been stoned, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have died, they have been surrounded by apple trees, they have been skinned, they have been deprived, they are grieving, they are suffering, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been deprived, they are grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been deprived, they are grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been deprived, they are grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been ill-treated, they have been killed, they have been deprived, they are grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been deprived, they are grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been deprived, they are grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they are suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering, they have been killed, they have been killed, they have been grieving, they have been suffering And all those who were martyred through the faith of god were given the promise of God, who had been blessed with what was foretold, that we might not be finished.

Thou art the one of a generation of Abbey as a David generation of fourteen, and of David as of the babylonian generation fourteen, and of the babylonian generation fourteen, and of the babylonian kinship as of Christ generation fourteen.
Jesus Christ is the genesis of all things. Betrothed to the mother of Mary of Joseph, before he met with the spirit of the Holy One. As if you were not righteous, righteous, and if you want me to be sampled, you are wrong. The things that the angel of the lord remembered in the name of the lord in the light of the words of the lord; As if you were David, you were afraid of me receiving Mary your wife, your son, your son. It is born of the spirit of the Holy One, that thou shalt not be born and call upon the name of Jesus, that he may save his people from his martyrdom. It was not until the lord was paid for by the prophet, saying, "The virgin who is a virgin who is gastric and is made a son," and who calls upon the name of god. He was aroused by the fact that he had commanded the angel of the lord and received his wife, and he had received his wife as if he had been a son; and he called his name Jesus.
