Good day and week to everyone. This coming Sunday is October 30th. The first thing I’d like to share with everyone is the greatest expression of gratitude to all of our parish family members who helped so much this week by preparing for and installing our new floor. It is a way of not only beautifying our parish, but also for increasing our safety and functionality.
When you come to see our Church, attending our Holy Services, please take care to look at how far we have come in the past few years. We are indeed working for not only our present, but also our future. We’re striving to provide for everyone. My suggestion for this week is for all of us to view our Church improvements with wonder and appreciation, and never get used to it.
Sometimes, we can get so used to seeing something in front of us that, after a long time, we no longer notice the object. It is possible for us to get “too used” to something, that it no longer affects us or strikes us as unique.
I would love for all of us to stay amazed at wonders before us, to continue to see new things in their newness and freshness. This is how we can also see our Divine Liturgy. Try seeing this Sunday’s Divine Liturgy as if you have never seen such a ceremony before. Look at the wonder of praying for everyone in the world, of hearing Sunday’s Scripture shared with us to help our daily lives, this week, to give us strength to cope with next week’s work and efforts. Experience the senses of our Divine Liturgy as we pray for each other, as we witness the consecration of Holy Communion and receive it, after our preparations.
This is my wish for us all: to always experience our faith in a fresh, appreciative way. In the way we thank our faithful helpers who spent all week replacing our floor and making a beautiful place for us, let us come to Church old and worn by the week’s efforts, and walk out of Church new and fresh, more ready to take on the world again.
Faithfully, Father Samaras
