A MOTHER’S DAY PRAYER
Most Gracious Heavenly Father, we thank You for our mothers to whom You have entrusted the care of every human life from their very beginning.
You allowed Mothers to feel Your creative powers inside their womb. Grant that every woman may come to understand the full meaning of that blessing, and give them the desire for selfless love for their children.
Watch over every mother who is with child, strengthen her faith in Your Fatherly care and love for her and for her unborn baby. Give her courage in times of fear or pain, understanding in times of uncertainty and doubt, and hope in times of trouble. Grant her joy in the birth of her child. To mothers You have given the great privilege and responsibility of being a child's first teacher and spiritual guide. Grant that all mothers may worthily foster the faith of their children. Help them to grow daily in knowledge and understanding of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and grant them the wisdom to impart this knowledge faithfully to their children, and to all who depend upon them.
Assist all "spiritual mothers", those who, though they may have no children of their own, nevertheless selflessly care for the children of others -- of every age and state in life. Grant that they may know the joy of fulfilling this motherly calling of women, whether in teaching, nursing the faith, or in any other work which recognizes and fosters the true dignity of every human being created in Your image and likeness.
We beseech You to send Your Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to all mothers who sorrow for children that have died, are ill or estranged from their families, or who are in trouble or danger of any kind. Help grieving mothers to rely on Your tender mercy and Your love for them.
We ask your blessing on all those to whom You have entrusted motherhood. May Your Holy Spirit inspire and strengthen them. May they ever follow the example of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, mother of Our Lord, and imitate her faith, her humility, and her self-giving love. May all mothers receive Your Grace abundantly in this earthly life, and may they look forward to eternal joy in Your presence in the life to come. We ask all this in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, onto the ages of ages,
Amen.

Stewardship:
Whether you are new to our parish or have been a steward for many years, welcome to St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Clifton, New Jersey! We invite you and your family to participate in our spiritual, outreach, social and youth ministries. The Church is here for you and your family to proclaim the Orthodox Faith and make our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His Church the center of your family’s life! We invite all those who have offered an annual gift in the past to try and maintain or even increase their contribution this year. For those that have never given an annual gift, we need your help. You can make a difference today with your participation. We understand that philanthropy is something very personal. Each person is invited to give according to their ability. If you are able, please consider joining one of the following giving levels this year: ($5,000 or more – Grand Benefactors, $2500-$4,999 – Benefactors, $1,000-$2,499 – House of Stewards, $800-$999- Patrons). Of course, whatever you decide to give please know that you have our utmost gratitude and appreciation, and please know our Church is here to serve your each and every need. The important thing to keep in mind is that we need everyone to do something. Sincere thanks to those who have already made their Stewardship Commitment for 2023!

Caretaker Needed for St. George:
After 30+ years of dedicated service, Effie and Vasili Triantafillou have informed the Parish Council that they are retiring from their duties this coming June. They have been such an integral part of our St. George family for decades and will be truly missed. We are grateful for their commitment and love for our Parish over these many years. The Parish Council has initiated a search for their successors. A job description is available at the Church office. The ideal candidate will live on site in the apartment behind the gymnasium. Please call 973-779-2626 with any suggestions or inquiries.
Sponsor A Day Program:
One way to help the church is through our “Sponsor A Day” program. We encourage our parishioners to select a day that has special meaning to them like a birthday, feast day, anniversary or a memorial and make a suggested donation of $250. We would like to thank the Daughters of Penelope for sponsoring April 23rd, the Feast Day of our patron Saint George the Great Martyr. For more information about the program, please speak to one of our Parish Council members, Ministry Leaders or call the church office.
Please consider sponsoring these feast days:
