WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS Whether you are new to Bangor or if you're just passing through -welcome! If you've come because you are curious about the Orthodox Church, its beliefs and worship, you are very welcome, too! Please don't hesitate to introduce yourself to someone you've never met and consider staying for some refreshments and fellowship after the morning service. If you would like to receive mailings or otherwise stay in touch, please leave your contact information (name, address, phone, email) with the person in the church office.
SUNDAY SCHOOL meets in the fellowship hall right after Holy Communion is offered. All ages 6+ are welcome. Mrs. Bucklin is recovering from a surgery she had last week. In the interim, Mr. Corbett will substitute until her return. Thanks both to Mrs. Bucklin and Mr. Corbett for their dedication to our students!
FELLOWSHIP HOUR It's time to bring your favorite dishes to share at fellowship hour again--thank you so much! CHRIST IS RISEN!
MEMORY ETERNAL! Sorrow has visited Mona and Anthony at the news of the departure of Mona's dad, Fr. Anthony, in Pakistan, last Thursday. He was a much loved man and a priest and minister to the flock God entrusted to him. The family thanks you for praying for him over recent months and now asks that you pray for the repose of his soul. God grant him eternal memory and peace to the entire family.
BEAUTIFUL, REVERENT AND ENERGETIC CHANTS were offered here from the beginning of Great Lent through the Holy Pascha Feast. Special thanks to our long-term, devoted chanters faithfully led by Lambros as an anchor and guide for all. During Great Lent and Holy Week some services were led by those new to the chant stand--Gabriya, Michael and Vincent who offered their talents well for the glory of God! Grateful to all who offer their hearts and voices in song! The choir for the Divine Liturgy of Holy Pascha was so beautiful this year--thank you, choir members--with your God pleasing hearts and voices!
THANK YOU TO OUR DECORATORS Thanks to the energetic creativity of our young adults, Gabrielle, Gabriya, Michael S, and Vincent, the church looked beautiful for Holy Week and then Holy Pascha! Grateful for your love for the Church and for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Thank you to all who did fresh floral decor on Holy Friday--especially to Cathy for leading the decoration of the Kouvouklion and for preparing fresh floral frames for the icons, the restoration of a lovely tradition at St. George.
GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE DONATIONS OF FLOWERS, CANDLES, red eggs, delicious dishes and more that made our Paschal celebration at St. George so joyous this year! Thank you, beloved parish community! Thank you to those who purchased tsoureki breads in support of our church this season and to Cathy and Lee for making the fund-raiser possible.
PRAYER REQUESTS UPDATE Prayer changes things--let us support one another. Two new prayer requests: Susan B has two family members who are afflicted with serious illnesses and asks prayer support for each. One has stage 4 esophageal cancer and the other, an incurable genetic disease. Please remember Nick and Darrell in your prayers. Joshua G (Orthodox inquirer) has asked prayers for his nephew, Lorenzo, age 3. Since turning one, little Lorenzo is sometimes afflicted with seizures without medical explanation. He recently suffered a seizure after a long period of non-occurrence. Please pray the Lord and our Panagia to relieve the child of seizures and bring complete healing.
Supportive prayers requested for Conlan and Katya who are engaged, planning to marry on May 11 and also for Michael and Gabrielle for their Orthodox marriage crowning on June 1. God grant wisdom to all! Summarized requests from past weeks: Prayer requested for Fr. Leo (continued improvement for mobility in right arm); Victoria (healing after successful surgery last Friday); Grigori (Gary) healing from deep vein thrombosis (he's improving!); Kathy's brother, Fred (continued healing from spinal stenosis surgery and recovery to affected nerves); Cathy (decisions regarding health), Matthew (attending seminary this fall), Paula (management of on-going health concern), ; Panagiota & Seraphima (stroke recovery) and Pat (managing eyesight health). Again, your prayers for these these brothers and sisters in Christ are of great assistance to each person being upheld.

ORTHODOX BIBLE STUDY Here is a recommended resource for Bible Study for Orthodox Christians. Learn from Dr. Jeannie Constantinou, a well respected and engaging Orthodox Christian expositor. Visit her site and go deep into the Scriptures: https://orthodoxbiblestudy.info/ Read her bio here: https://orthodoxbiblestudy.info/about-your-professor/. Many of us have read books written by Dr. Constintinou already and been greatly edified. She has a second web site, as well: https://www.drjeannie.com/. Her book about the Crucifixion of our Lord is in our bookstore now.
JUMP ON THE PRAYER TRAIN The Psalter Prayer Reading Group that was active during Great Lent (some of which was comprised of people from St. George) will get underway again on Monday, April 28. If you want to jump back on the prayer train or if you'd like to get involved for the first time, please contact Presbytera so she can give you details on "how-to" if you are not already familiar (doxa 141 at gmail dot com). You can access the daily kathisma readings from an on-line source or order a Psalter book through our bookstore. This concentrated offering by Orthodox Christians throughout the world may be a saving grace for many as we move forward in Faith into uncertain times. God is with us, we will be unmoved in Him. If you'd like to watch a video related to the importance of this practice, drop me a note. Let me know, too, if you'd like to be included in this prayer discipline so we can be praying for one another. Thank you, Pres.
A NICE WAY TO HELP ST. GEORGE For an unspecified time, a family has offered to buy our bookshop stock as a donation so the church does not need to fund the stock purchases. That means whenever you buy from our bookshop St. George benefits a good bit. So please shop here and if there is a book or something else (icon, prayer rope, neck cross, bread seal, or the like) you're looking for, please let Pres. know so it can be ordered. Thanks for shopping here--and let Pres. know if you are looking for specific items or want to order a particular book.
