ORTHROS: 9:00
LITURGY: 10:00
NO SUNDAY SERVICES TODAY DUE TO ILLNESS Fr. is in the process of recovering from a bout with cellulitis. He regrets he cannot celebrate the Divine Liturgy this morning. He is being treated with antibiotics and hopes to be in tip-top shape again for next Sunday. St. George will be open this morning between 9:30 and noon. Feel welcome to come in and light a candle and offer prayers during that time. God bless all on this Sunday after the Elevation of the Holy Cross!
SUNDAY SCHOOL WILL RESUME NEXT SUNDAY Mrs. Bucklin has a wonderful plan for this year's Sunday School. She will be teaching from the Gospel of Luke and Acts of the Apostles--the theme will be "Salvation to the Ends of the Earth." If you are age 6+, this class is for you! We'll be learning about the beautiful life of our Lord Jesus and how the Good News is spread to the ends of the Earth! Once again, we're grateful to Mrs. Bucklin for having taken on the ministry of teaching our precious children.
COMMEMORATIONS THIS WEEK Monday, 9/16 - Great Martyr Euphemia; Tuesday, 9/17 - St. Sophia and her daughters, Faith, Hope & Love; Wednesday, 9/18 - St. Ariadne the Martyr; Friday, 9/20 - St. Eustathios & Family; Saturday, 9/21 - Leave-taking of the Elevation of the Holy Cross. XRONIA POLLA! MANY YEARS! to all who are celebrating their Name Day this week.
PROSFORA NEEDED Would someone be able to bake prosfora bread this week? There is genuine need for some at this time. Please let Fr. know ([email protected] or 207.385.3000).
PRAYER REQUESTS Please continue to remember two Orthodox sisters in Christ recovering from strokes (slow, but sure), Panagiota (Jaye) and Seraphima (Linnea). Also, please remember Pat Egan whose eyesight is limiting her options, but not her enthusiasm for serving the Christ and the Church--thank God! Your prayers for all these dear women will be of great assistance.
BIG THANKS FROM PAT EGAN I can't adequately thank all of you who have prayed for my operations and vision! I'm so grateful that I am able to continue living independently here, where I felt God called me to be when we had the mission on Deer Isle. His ways are not our ways, but even though the Deer Isle mission is no longer there, Orthodoxy's spread in Maine is the result. I cannot always make it to church in Bangor, but when I can, it's thanks to the generosity of people like Victoria, Jack and Areti. I would not be in such a good position were it not for Cathy's advice about seeing Dr. Goldthwaite and the subsequent operations which have stopped the deterioration of my optic nerve. One could say that, if it weren't for the St. George community, I would now be blind.
