Resurrectional Apolytikion in the Fourth Mode

When the women Disciples of the Lord had learned from the Angel the joyful message of the Resurrection and had rejected the ancestral decision, they cried aloud to the Apostles triumphantly: Death has been despoiled, Christ God has risen, granting His great mercy to the world.

As a sharer of the ways and a successor to the throne of the Apostles, O inspired of God, thou foundest discipline to be a means of ascent to divine vision. Wherefore, having rightly divided the word of truth, thou didst also contest for the Faith even unto blood, O Hieromartyr Phocas. Intercede with Christ our God that our souls be saved.

Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. And when he had ceased speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." And Simon answered, "Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets." And when they had done this, they enclosed a great shoal of fish; and as their nets were breaking, they beckoned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord." For he was astonished, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid; henceforth you will be catching men." And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES:

MOMS MEETING AND “COFFEE BREAK” 9/22, 9/29 There will be a meeting of the Moms’ Group after church TODAY September 22^nd. Whether you’ve been involved in the past or not, we encourage all church Moms to attend and help plan the year’s events and activities. The following Sunday, September 29^th, all are invited to join for an afternoon “Coffee Break” at the Tuscan Café in Downtown Northville at 4:30 pm. GOYA MEETING: There will be a GOYA meeting TODAY, Sunday September 22 in the Board Room after church. All those grades 7 – 12 are encouraged to attend.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY: Our Adult Bible Study will meet this Tuesday, September 29^th at 7:00 pm. Bible Study meets each Tuesday evening on the Zoom platform, all adults are welcome to participate, as we continue our study of the Book of Matthew. GREEK PASTRY BAKING LESSONS: We have begun our Greek pastry baking lessons, taught by Stella Boyer! Upcoming dates are as follows: 9/26 Baklava, 10/10 Galatoboureko, 10/24 Koulourakia. Time is 6:00 pm. There is no fee, and all materials are provided. We will meet in the multi-purpose room.

WINE TASTING AND TRIVIA: Our St. Helen Philoptochos will sponsor a Wine Tasting and Trivia night this coming Saturday evening, September 28^th from 6:00 – 10:00 pm. This event for those 21 and over is open to the public, at a cost of $40/ticket. Advance reservations are requested, and will be accepted at the coffee hour, or [email protected] or the church office. Proceeds benefit the St. Helen Philoptochos charities.

ENTHRONEMENT CELEBRATION: Saints Constantine and Helen Church is proud to host the 25^th Anniversary Enthronement Celebration honoring His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas on Saturday, October 12^th at the Hellenic Cultural Center. DEADLINE FOR TICKETS IS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24^TH. Please make your reservations through the church office, let us know if you would like to reserve a full table (10) for your group. Tickets for the dinner event are $75/person.

FALL FESTIVAL: Our annual Fall Festival will be held on Friday, October 25^th, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm in the Hellenic Cultural Center. Bring a friend, dress in your best costume and get ready to have some fun! The event features a bounce house, new games and prizes, Bingo, Photo Booth, Food, and Fun for all ages! This year, we will also have our first-ever PASTITSIO COOK OFF! If you have a great recipe for pastitsio (it’s OK to borrow one from your yiayia!) we want you! Tickets for the event are $10 each, or $35 for a family group of 4 or more. Costumes are optional (but they’re a lot more fun!)

LIGHTS, CAMERA, AUCTION! Our “Putting on the Glitz” Reverse Raffle and auction will be held on Sunday, November 10^th. Raffle tickets will be on sale starting today – last ticket drawn wins $4,000, with many more fantastic prizes given throughout the night. We are also still in need of auction items for our live and silent auction on that night. Talk to any Parish Council member or the church office for tickets and information.

NEWS AND NOTICES:

SCHOOL SUPPLIES COLLECTION Oue parish is collecting new, packaged school supplies through Sunday September 29^th. All items collected will be distributed through FOCUS Detroit to students and teachers in the Detroit Public Schools. Please leave donated items in the blue bin outside the church office.

MEMORIAL SERVICES: Please call the church office to schedule all memorials and coffee hour sponsorships at least two weeks in advance. On the day of the service, please bring a list of family names you would like Father to remember in prayer. The requested Coffee Hour Sponsorship donation is $200. Koliva will be distributed to parishioners at the coffee hour; if you wish to bring in paximadia, koulourakia, or other dry cookie it may also be distributed.
