Resurrectional Apolytikion in the First Mode

The stone had been secured with a seal by the Judeans, * and a guard of soldiers was watching Your immaculate body. * You rose on the third day, O Lord * and Savior, granting life unto the world. * For this reason were the powers of heaven crying out to You, O Life-giver: * Glory to Your resurrection, O Christ; * glory to Your eternal rule; * glory to Your dispensation, only One who loves mankind.

Let your mercy, O Lord, be upon us.
Verse: Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous.

The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Romans 2:10-16.

Brethren, glory and honor and peace for every one who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality. All who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. When Gentiles who have not the law do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or perhaps excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.

The Reading is from Matthew 4:18-23

At that time, as Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Immediately they left their nets and followed him. And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. Immediately they left their boat and their father, and followed him. And he went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every infirmity among the people.

EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES:

GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING: We will hold our annual Spring General Assembly meeting following church services, TODAY, Sunday, June 22^nd. A light lunch will be offered to those who stay for the meeting.

MEN’S GROUP MEETING: Will be held next Sunday, June 29^th in the Board Room. Discussion will include: reports on the Euchre Tournament and Golf Outing, summer business meeting options, and any new business.

BLOOD DRIVE: Give the gift of life! Sign up now to make an appointment to give blood on Sunday, July20th. Sponsored by our YAL group, this effort addresses a critical need in our community for blood and blood products. SAVE THE DATE: Our Men’s Group will be holding a 9-hole Golf Scramble on Sunday, August 17^th to raise funds for their “Feed the Needy” program and other activities. BIBLE STUDY: Our Adult Bible Study group is on a break for the summer months. Bible Study will resume at the end of summer.

NEWS AND NOTICES:

SUMMER SURVIVAL: Our Summer Survival Board is back in the church Narthex. Even though church attendance unfortunately decreases during the summer months, youth and other programs increase their activity, while regular building and property maintenance, utilities, and other expenses continue. That is why, again this year, we are asking for your help by making an additional donation to our “Summer Survival” campaign. You can make a donation online at stcons.org or by cash or check at the church office (or by mail). Your help will make a big difference!

THE LIGHT OF THE SANCTUARY: Saints Constantine and Helen Church is now launching The Light of the Sanctuary Campaign, a community-wide effort to install elegant chandeliers. We invite you to participate in one of the following ways:

Make a donation of any amount - every gift helps illuminate the house of God.
Sponsor a chandelier in full, in your name or in honor/memory of a loved one. Sponsors will be recognized with a commemorative plaque, becoming a permanent part of this sacred offering.

MEMORIAL SERVICES: Please call the church office to schedule all memorials and coffee hour sponsorships at least two weeks in advance. On the day of the service, please bring a list of family names you would like Father to remember in prayer. Koliva will be distributed at the coffee hour; if you wish to bring in paximadia, koulourakia, or other dry cookie it may also be distributed. Coffee Hour sponsorship is not required, however the church is grateful to those who wish to make a sponsorship donation of $200, and the HCC will set up a table with cloth and coffee, etc. for your family.
