Μια αποκάλυψη
Πολλές φορές ο Πιστός φτάνει σε ένα σημείο που απογοητεύεται και λέει: “Μισώ τον εαυτό μου. Έχω γίνει αυτό που σιχαίνομαι.” Αυτό είναι μια πολύ αρνητική προσέγγιση, η οποία δεν οδηγεί πουθενά, αντίθετα φέρνει τον άνθρωπο σε αδιέξοδο. Μήπως όμως υπάρχει τρόπος να δούμε τα πράγματα διαφορετικά;
A revelation
Many times, the Faithful reaches a point where he gets frustrated and says: “I hate myself. I have become what I loathe.” This is a very negative approach, which leads nowhere, on the contrary, it leads the person to a dead end. But is there a way to see things differently?
It is very important to truly perceive ourselves. Perhaps with our imagination we are creating a completely fictitious image. That, for example, we don't make mistakes, and that we don't have flaws. But the time is coming when we see that the situation is not like that. It is God who opens the eyes of the soul, we see things in their true dimensions and for that we thank Him. We must see it as a visitation of Grace. The Fathers of the Church teach that God allows us to see our situation, depending on our endurance, that is, our strength. The egoist will be disappointed and despair. The humble, instead of saying that he loathes himself, will take occasion from this "revelation" to make a new beginning in his spiritual struggle.

SUNDAY SCHOOL - To our middle and high school students and their parents:
Beginning January 14th, the Sunday School class for our teens and tweens will resume meeting (after a break for the holidays), after Communion in the large classroom, left side. We began our studies in the Old Testament and will gradually be moving into the New Testament so that you/your student not only has a general understanding of the Bible as a whole, but can use it, as Bishop Kallistos Ware said in his book on how to read the Bible, “as a means for personal spiritual edification (benefit), as a companion to achieve holistic personal growth, and to reach deification (theosis).”
I look forward to seeing you/your student in class, as well as older acolytes who have concluded their duties in the altar. Respectfully, Melissa Kauttu Strange, Sunday School Teacher

As for the holy Martyrs of Sinai and Raithu, those of Sinai contested during the reign of Diocletian, about the year 296; those of Raithu were slain about the middle of the fifth century. On both occasions, the perpetrators of these massacres were a barbarian tribe called Blemmyes, from the parts of Arabia and Egypt.
Because of the Apodosis of the Feast of Holy Theophany also on the 14th of January, the liturgical services to the Holy Fathers slain at Sinai and Raitho are transferred to January 13th.
Prokeimenon. 1st Tone. Psalm 32.22,1.
Let your mercy, O Lord, be upon us.
Verse: Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous.
The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 4:7-13.
BRETHREN, grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it is said, "When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men." (in saying, "He ascended," what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is he who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
Sunday after Epiphany
The Reading is from Matthew 4:12-17
At that time, when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee; and leaving Nazareth he went and dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: "The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned." From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
