My Dear Church Family,
I think everyone can agree, that we are in a spiritual journey all lifelong. There’s no break for us, there’s no time to relax, no time to hold our breath, etc. We are constantly on the run, for The Lord, with The Lord and in The Lord. It’s a permanent dedication; a permanent devotion and it never stops! Saint Apostol Paul tells us in His Epistle to The Galatians, chapter 2, verses 20-21: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. What a wonderful statement! I have been crucified with Christ, it refers here, to my Baptism, when I became a new person, a person who denied himself/herself and I was “born again” in Christ. That is the meaning of “crucifixion” in this text, not literal crucifixion, not physical but a spiritual crucifixion!
But my spiritual journey, did not stop at the time of my Baptism, The Baptism, is just the beginning of if and it should continue that way. It needs to be a permanent spiritual ascension to Jesus Christ and to His Kingdom! Jesus is expecting all of us at the other end but we need to make our effort to meet Him. On a day like this, He was Presented to the temple, as a 40 day old baby to be blessed by the righteous Symeon, who when he saw Him being brought to the temple, recited that beautiful prayer, that we always recite towards the end of the Vespers Service : “ “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.” (Luke 2; 29-32) The righteous Symeon, was waiting to see The Salvation of The World, Our Lord Jesus Christ and now he asked God, to “let him depart in peace from this world”, since he felt that his mission here was accomplished!
My Dearly beloved,
Are we meeting The Lord every day? Do we reach out to Him and stay connected with Him? If so, where do we meet Him? Definitely, the best place to meet The Lord is in His Church, every Sunday and Feast Day. We meet Him one on one, when we eat His Holy Body and drink His Precious Blood in The Holy Sacrament of Eucharist or Communion, offered in The Divine Liturgy! We meet The Lord every morning, when we wake up and give Him thanks for granting us another day to live here on The Earth, we meet The Lord, at our daily meal times, when we thank Him for giving us our “daily bread”. We meet Him at our place of work, when we have so many things to do and we don’t seem to be able to solve them, but instead they pile up and we are almost falling being weight down by them and when we ask The Lord for His help, we see them all solved one by one in no time. We meet The Lord all over the place and we invoke His mercy and power to come and protect us all the time, knowing that He promised: “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” (John 15;5)
So therefore, let’s abide in Jesus Christ and see, how much we can simplify our complicate life and become from faithful people, Disciples of The Lord! AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!
In Jesus Christ Our Lord, I remain, prayerfully yours, His humble servant,
+Fr. Catalin
