PASTORAL ASSISTANT CANDIDATE
TO BE WITH US NEXT WEEK
My Dear Spiritual Family,
How can we ever thank the indefatigable and very effective volunteer work of GOYA Advisors Maria Hicks and Kristine Scharf over the last several years? How can we thank the uncommon task that our Office Manager Jane Tzilvelis took on without pay, actually refusing pay (against our protests) for almost a year now? The same goes for Amalia Kythas who has managed the church's finances pro bono and Betsy Higgins overseeing our Sunday School these last several years with her fervent love of Orthodoxy. These dedicated volunteers will continue to be with us and assist us but not in the full time capacity that we've been blessed with.
Therefore I have asked the Parish Council to consider the Position of Pastoral Assistant who will be able to take on some of the multi-faceted tasks of Office Manager as well as filling the void of Maria, Kristine and Betsy with our precious and beloved youth. With all this in mind I have asked recent seminary graduate Robert Shand to come visit and worship with us next weekend. It is my belief that Robert is a solid candidate for this position and it is my hope that as a community we can embrace this position and this candidate.
Robert will assist in chanting the Saturday of the Souls Liturgy this Saturday, May 30 as well as the Orthros next Sunday which is Pentecost Sunday. He will also offer a brief homily and meet with the GOYA after services.
Come and see!
In Christ,
Rev. Fr. Paul Christy

SCHOLARSHIP SUNDAY, May 31, 2015: Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church scholarships provide the opportunity to apply for all the youth of the parish who are actively involved in the life of the Church by attending Sunday School and participating in GOYA as well as maintaining appropriate academic grades. These scholarships are made possible because of the Christian love of this parish for its children with the hope of perpetuating into adulthood the young people’s active participation in the life of the Orthodox Church.
