Dear young adults,
I pray that all is well as we prepare for a meaningful Lent starting next Monday! Many of you know that the Metropolis of Boston Camp is the most transformative and impactful ministry that our Church offers to its young people, campers and staff alike. With over 100 young adult volunteers annually, MBC invites you to join our team this summer to give back, to create unforgettable experiences for our campers, and to witness a display of faith unlike anywhere else while fostering connections with peers from throughout the country! Whether a full summer, a full week, or a few days, join us as we celebrate our 35th year anniversary made possible by the dedicated body of young adult staff!
We expect a record turn out of campers this season, and they need a record turn out of staff to make sure we have enough big brothers and sisters to provide the most amazing experience! Not only do they need us, but Christ calls each of us to offer our time and talents back to Him and His Church. I ask you to deeply consider in what ways He might be calling you to serve this Summer, and not only by attending! If you have gifts or skills that you think could be helpful in creating an unforgettable experience for our campers, please let us know so we can loop you into our program planning!
We set a deadline of March 1st for staff applications, and we would love to know that you plan to join us by then! Even if your availability changes, fill out the application and just shoot us an email. If you do not think you will be able to finish the app by 3/1, just let us know by responding to this email.
Come help us extend Christ's embrace to hundreds of campers this summer! We cannot wait to serve alongside you!
March 2025 , Rejoice
The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston is pleased to offer 2025-2026 academic year scholarship opportunities for U.S. and Canadian students who are of Greek descent or of the Greek Orthodox Faith and entering their second, third, or fourth year of undergraduate studies. The annual scholarships are provided by endowments generously gifted by the Charles C. Condes Trust of Illinois (four, one-time scholarships of $8,000 each) and the St. George’s Hellenic Benefit Society of Tsamantas of Worcester, MA (two, one-time scholarships of $7,500 each).
The Charles C. Condes Memorial Scholarships were bequeathed by Charles C. Condes, a lifelong philanthropist who was a great believer in the power of education and an admirer of all things Hellenic. After serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII, he launched his career as a consulting engineer, initially in the private sector, and later as a bridge design engineer for the city of Chicago. His endowment demonstrates his pride in the Greek American and Greek Canadian students who represent the future of Hellenism and Orthodox Christianity in the United States and Canada.
The St. George's Hellenic Benefit Society of Tsamantas Scholarships were established in memory of the pioneering sons and daughters of the village of Tsamantas, Epirus, who settled in Worcester, MA at the turn of the 19th century. The 2025 scholarship awards are named after Stavros Bellos, the village’s greatest benefactor, and Arthur Athanasiou, former 61-year member and President of the St. George’s Society who was the driving force in its revitalization during the last 20 years.
Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate two or four-year degree program at an accredited college or university located in the U.S. or Canada. Students can apply online through the Metropolis of Boston Scholarship Portal.
Please note that all U.S. and Canadian college students who are of Greek descent or of the Greek Orthodox Faith are encouraged to apply.
Applications will be accepted beginning March 1, 2025. The deadline for applications is April 14, 2025. Candidates will be individually informed upon the completion of the evaluation process in May 2025.
His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios will recognize the scholarship recipients and award the scholarships at the annual Metropolis Ministry Awards Banquet on Sunday evening, June 8, 2025.
The Metropolis Scholarship Committee urges our youth to apply for this opportunity and looks forward to recognizing their achievements this year and for years to come.
