At that time, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Symeon, and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And inspired by the Spirit he came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, "Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel."

²⁵ في ذلك الزمان َكَانَ رَجُلٌ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ اسْمُهُ سِمْعَانُ ، وَهَذَا الرَّجُلْ كَانَ بَارّاً تَقِيّاً يَنْتَظِرُ تَعْزِيَةَ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، وَالرُّوحُ الْقُدُسُ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ. ²⁶وَكَانَ قَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْهِ بِالرُّوحِ الْقُدُسِ أَنَّهُ لاَ يَرَى الْمَوْتَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرَى مَسِيحَ الرَّبِّ. ²⁷فَأَتَى بِالرُّوحِ إِلَى الْهَيْكَلِ. وَعِنْدَمَا دَخَلَ بِالصَّبِيِّ يَسُوعَ أَبَوَاهُ ، لِيَصْنَعَا لَهُ حَسَبَ عَادَةِ النَّامُوسِ ، ²⁸أَخَذَهُ عَلَى ذِرَاعَيْهِ وَبَارَكَ اللهَ وَقَالَ: ²⁹((الآنَ تُطْلِقُ عَبْدَكَ يَا سَيِّدُ حَسَبَ قَوْلِكَ بِسَلاَمٍ، ³⁰لأَنَّ عَيْنَيَّ قَدْ أَبْصَرَتَا خَلاَصَكَ ، ³¹الَّذِي أَعْدَدْتَهُ قُدَّامَ وَجْهِ جَمِيعِ الشُّعُوبِ. ³²نُورَ إِعْلاَنٍ لِلأُمَمِ، وَمَجْداً لِشَعْبِكَ إِسْرَائِيلَ)).

Brethren, it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you.

Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, "I believed, and so I spoke," we too believe, and so we speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

يَُّا إِخْوَة، إِنَّ اللهَ الَّذِي قَالَ أَنْ يُشْرِقَ نُورٌ مِنْ ظُلْمَةٍ، هُوَ الَّذِي أَشْرَقَ فِي قُلُوبِنَا، لإِنَارَةِ مَعْرِفَةِ مَجْدِ اللهِ فِي وَجْهِ يَسُوعَ الْمَسِيحِ. 7وَلَكِنْ لَنَا هَذَا الْكَنْزُ فِي أَوَانٍ خَزَفِيَّةٍ، لِيَكُونَ فَضْلُ الْقُوَّةِ لِلَّهِ لاَ مِنَّا. 8مُكْتَئِبِينَ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، لَكِنْ غَيْرَ مُتَضَايِقِينَ. مُتَحَيِّرِينَ، لَكِنْ غَيْرَ يَائِسِينَ. 9مُضْطَهَدِينَ، لَكِنْ غَيْرَ مَتْرُوكِينَ. مَطْرُوحِينَ، لَكِنْ غَيْرَ هَالِكِينَ. 10حَامِلِينَ فِي الْجَسَدِ كُلَّ حِينٍ إِمَاتَةَ الرَّبِّ يَسُوعَ، لِكَيْ تُظْهَرَ حَيَاةُ يَسُوعَ أَيْضاً فِي جَسَدِنَا. 11لأَنَّنَا نَحْنُ الأَحْيَاءَ نُسَلَّمُ دَائِماً لِلْمَوْتِ مِنْ أَجْلِ يَسُوعَ، لِكَيْ تَظْهَرَ حَيَاةُ يَسُوعَ أَيْضاً فِي جَسَدِنَا الْمَائِتِ. 12إِذاً الْمَوْتُ يَعْمَلُ فِينَا، وَلَكِنِ الْحَيَاةُ فِيكُمْ. 13فَإِذْ لَنَا رُوحُ الإِيمَانِ عَيْنُهُ، حَسَبَ الْمَكْتُوبِ ((آمَنْتُ لِذَلِكَ تَكَلَّمْتُ)) ، نَحْنُ أَيْضاً نُؤْمِنُ وَلِذَلِكَ نَتَكَلَّمُ أَيْضاً. 14عَالِمِينَ أَنَّ الَّذِي أَقَامَ الرَّبَّ يَسُوعَ سَيُقِيمُنَا نَحْنُ أَيْضاً بِيَسُوعَ، وَيُحْضِرُنَا مَعَكُمْ. 15لأَنَّ جَمِيعَ الأَشْيَاءِ هِيَ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ، لِكَيْ تَكُونَ النِّعْمَةُ وَهِيَ قَدْ كَثُرَتْ بِالأَكْثَرِينَ، تَزِيدُ الشُّكْرَ لِمَجْدِ اللهِ.

At that time, Jesus was passing through Jericho. And there was a man named Zacchaios; he was a chief collector, and rich. And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not, on account of the crowd, because he was small of stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaios, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today." So he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it they all murmured, "He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner." And Zacchaios stood and said to the Lord, "Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded any one of anything, I restore it fourfold." And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost."

¹ في ذلك الزمان فيما يسوع مجْتَازَ فِي أَرِيحَا. ²وَإِذَا رَجُلٌ اسْمُهُ زَكَّا ، وَهُوَ رَئِيسٌ لِلْعَشَّارِينَ وَكَانَ غَنِيّاً، ³وَطَلَبَ أَنْ يَرَى يَسُوعَ مَنْ هُوَ ، وَلَمْ يَقْدِرْ مِنَ الْجَمْعِ ، لأَنَّهُ كَانَ قَصِيرَ الْقَامَةِ. ⁴فَرَكَضَ مُتَقَدِّماً وَصَعِدَ إِلَى جُمَّيْزَةٍ لِكَيْ يَرَاهُ ، لأَنَّهُ كَانَ مُزْمِعاً أَنْ يَمُرَّ مِنْ هُنَاكَ. ⁵فَلَمَّا جَاءَ يَسُوعُ إِلَى الْمَكَانِ ، نَظَرَ إِلَى فَوْقُ فَرَآهُ ، وَقَالَ لَهُ: ((يَا زَكَّا ، أَسْرِعْ وَانْزِلْ ، لأَنَّهُ يَنْبَغِي أَنْ أَمْكُثَ الْيَوْمَ فِي بَيْتِكَ)). ⁶فَأَسْرَعَ وَنَزَلَ وَقَبِلَهُ فَرِحاً. ⁷فَلَمَّا رَأَى الْجَمِيعُ ذَلِكَ تَذَمَّرُوا قَائِلِينَ: ((إِنَّهُ دَخَلَ لِيَبِيتَ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ خَاطِئٍ)). ⁸فَوَقَفَ زَكَّا وَقَالَ لِلرَّبِّ: ((هَا أَنَا يَا رَبُّ أُعْطِي نِصْفَ أَمْوَالِي لِلْمَسَاكِينِ ، وَإِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ وَشَيْتُ بِأَحَدٍ أَرُدُّ أَرْبَعَةَ أَضْعَافٍ)). ⁹فَقَالَ لَهُ يَسُوعُ: ((الْيَوْمَ حَصَلَ خَلاَصٌ لِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ ، إِذْ هُوَ أَيْضاً ابْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ،¹⁰لأَنَّ ابْنَ الإِنْسَانِ قَدْ جَاءَ لِكَيْ يَطْلُبَ وَيُخَلِّصَ مَا قَدْ هَلَكَ)).
