“HAVE COURAGE!” JESUS SAID TO HIS FEARFUL DISCIPLES. 

“Have courage” Jesus said to His fearful Disciples as they saw Him walking on the water. Peter even asked Jesus to also enable him to walk on the water. And he did, until he turned his attention away from Jesus and he became fearful of the waves and the wind. This happens when we allow doubts to enter our thinking and trust of God.

Men of Courage and faith become the revered heroes in a Confused and Threatening Atmosphere. They are the ones who have faith and values and live by them. For they are not swayed by the crowd mentality, by the prevailing public opinion, which changes frequently, as does the direction of the blowing wind, so to speak. They are not swayed by the crowd who one day shouts “Hosanna!” and a little later, misled by their leaders, shout “Crucify Him!”

But recall Joseph of Arimathea, the noble Nicodemus, John the Evangelist, Mary Theotokos, the Myrrh bearers who were courageous and honored Jesus even at His death. And they were not disappointed. They also saw Him Risen from the dead victorious.

In the world history we admire people who stood up and opposed the tyrannical men and movements which arrogantly attempted to step upon the rights of other people. We admired Leonidas who stood up against the Persians, saying “Molon lave,” “Come and get it, if you dare,” and they stopped the Persians in Thermopylae. We admired all the people and Nations who stood up and fought against those who dared step upon the human rights of the people: Recall the Magna Carta, the wars of Independence from slavery, Naziism, Fascism, Communism, atheism, secularism…

It is our turn to “have courage,” to stand up for our precious faith in Christ, the Victor of all ages; to live our life as He taught us. To support His Church, whose members we are. Christ then, through His Divine Grace which He offers us in the Sacraments of the Church, gives us courage and enables us to stand firm in what we believe. When Christ is in us, then the wind becomes calm, and the threatening waves stop battering the boat of our life.

CHURCH SERVICES
Greek Orthodox Divine Liturgy.  Each month, we try to have at least one Divine Liturgy  (with a visiting Priest).  That Service is normally on a Saturday (or a Special Service/Feast weekday) and is scheduled when a Priest is available.  In addition to communion during the Service, private meetings with the Priest are available by appointment (for personal matters, planning future events, and Confession).
Special Invitation - Saint Nectarios Church welcomes all: During Divine Liturgy, which is mostly in English, the Lord's Prayer is said by parishioners in their native languages.  Currently the prayer is normally said in English, Arabic, Russian, Spanish, and Greek.  If you wish to participate (and perhaps add a language), just let us know.
On most weeks, we remotely celebrate Saturday Vespers  and Sunday Online Divine Liturgy  with Father John in the Seattle area.  During the remote Divine Liturgy, Communion is served to Father's attending family and friends - but is unavailable to those participating online.
Online Greek Orthodox Vespers and Other Special Services are normally celebrated online with Father John in Seattle.  The link for joining Zoom to actively participate in on-line Services is

On the last Sunday of each month, there normally is a Typica Reader Service  with a Parish Fellowship Time.  This in-Church Service is held as an opportunity to bring the local community together - and hopefully eventually returning St. Nectarios to having a full time Priest.

Tri-Cities Coptic Church Services
Saint Mary and Saint Abanoub Coptic Orthodox Church.    This Coptic Church is currently holding services at the St. Nectarios Church.  A Saturday or Sunday Holy Liturgy with a visiting Priest is normally held once per month either in the Tricities or in Spokane.  All are invited to attend.
