Sunday Sermon:
Please note, that going forward, the sermon will be delivered right after the Gospel reading which means at about 10:00AM. The Divine Liturgy, as you know, begins at 9:30AM and this is the time when all the faithful are called to be in Church. It is an appointment with the most Holy One, will you keep it? Put your best effort forward!
Holy Communion Line:
We remind everyone that the Communion line is to be formed in the center aisle, and once you receive, depart to the right or to the left to return to your seat. Sunday School children and their teachers will come up first. Infants may be brought up to the front of the line at any time. Please remain at your seat, (you may sit if you need to), and enter the center aisle once the Parish Council members indicate that it is time for people in your pew to come up. While you are waiting, you may read the prayers for before Holy Communion on page 76. Once you return to your seat read the thanksgiving prayers for after Holy Communion on page 90. This is one of the most sacred moments of the service, so please treat it accordingly, refrain from talking and be respectful and prayerful. Also, please wipe any excess lipstick from your lips before coming to the Holy Chalice and no chewing gum during services. Thank you.
Cemetery Schedule:
On Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th, Fr. Peter will be at East Ridgelawn & Crest Haven Cemeteries in Clifton from 9am -10:30am. At 11:00am he will be at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst. Then at 12:00pm he will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Paterson. Please call the church office to let us know if you intend to be at any of these locations so Fr. Peter can make sure that he does not leave without doing the service for your loved ones.
A BLESSED MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL!
Memorial Day unofficially marks the beginning of the summer season and activities, filled with fun and good cheer for everyone. Let us take a moment to truly remember the real reason for this National Holiday and bow our head in prayer of thanksgiving for those who gave their life so that we may enjoy the blessing of freedom that our way of life gives us. Additionally, we remember all our loved ones who have gone to be with the Lord and pray for their eternal rest in the loving arms of the Lord!
Αιωνία η μνήμη αυτών!
May their memory be eternal!
Greek Festival Sponsorship:
Please consider sponsoring our upcoming Greek Festival by making a suggested “Friends & Family” donation of $100 to help defray food expenses. This is ideal for individuals or families who are unable to offer their time during the festival, but want to support it. This will cover a one 4-hour shift of external labor expense. To make a donation please contact the church office. In order to schedule yourself as a volunteer during the festival, contact John Pilavas at [email protected] or Stephanos Frangos at [email protected]. You can also visit our Facebook page or website at www.stgeorgeclifton.org to register to volunteer through SignUp Genius. As we all know, this is the most important fundraiser of our church and we appreciate your involvement.
Camp Good Shepherd NJ:
This is a wonderful opportunity for children to experience a transformative summer camp experience deeply rooted in faith, fellowship, and personal growth. The camp runs from June 23rd – 29th at Camp Linwood MacDonald in Sandyston, NJ. This is a great way to create unforgettable memories and spiritual growth for the children in our sacred Metropolis of NJ.
Greek School:
At the annual Greek School Graduation/Promotions Ceremony on Thursday, May 23, 2024, the 6th grade Greek School Graduates and all of the students and teaching staff flew the audience on the nostalgic nonstop Olympic Airways flight from NYC to Athens, Greece! The play, entitled, “Αεροπορικές ιστορίες με χρώμα ελληνικό!” was written and directed by our very own teacher, K. Matina Levantis and the Prop Master, our very own, K. Bessie Batalas-Long, established the setting to enhance the sentimental narrative. The enjoyable and entertaining scenes were familiar to all who have experienced this infamous flight…! Congratulations to all of our 2024 St. George Greek School Graduates: Antonios Drakas, Emmanuelle Theodore-Allusson, Yianni Koukanas, Alexandra Magalias and Chrysovalantis Filippis. The Valedictorian/Three Hierarchs Certificate was awarded to Chrysovalantis Filippis and The St. George Epaino was awarded to Antonios Drakas. Very special thanks to Mr. Chris Morgan, and Mr. Steve Manis, representatives of AHEPA’s Alexander Hamilton Chapter #54, who awarded all of the students medals and gifts. The 6th Grade Graduates and their families enjoyed a celebration dinner at Stamna Greek Restaurant with Father Peter, the Director and Teaching Staff Members. Special recognition and thanks to the St. George Greek School Director, Mrs. Joyce Logothetis and the dedicated and loving Teaching Staff, Mrs. Bessie Batalas-Long, Mrs. Irene Souritzidis, Ms. Christina Karabetsos, Mrs. Fotoula Anastasopoulos and Mrs. Matina Levantis for another memorable and productive school year of Greek language and culture learning. Congratulations to all the St. George 6th Grade Graduates and all of the students who were promoted! See everyone back in September!
Καλό Καλοκαίρι και Καλά Ταξίδια σε όλους!

Stewardship Report:
We have launched the 2024 Annual Giving Stewardship Program and we invite all those who have offered an annual gift in the past to try and maintain or even increase their contribution this year. For those that have never given an annual gift, we need your help. Our community has nearly $40K in monthly expenses and the annual stewardship is the primary program that raises funds for us to meet our obligations. You can make a difference today with your participation. Please visit our website at www.stgeorgeclifton.org to make a gift or pledge. Our community is our common spiritual home, we owe it to God, our founding families, ourselves, our children and their children to sustain, maintain and grow it. We understand that philanthropy is something very personal. Each person is invited to give according to their ability. If you are able, please consider joining one of the following giving levels this year: ($5,000 or more – Grand Benefactors, $2500 – $4,999 – Benefactors, $1,200 – $2,499 – House of Stewards, $800 – $1,199 – Patrons). Of course, whatever you decide to give please know that you have our utmost gratitude and appreciation, and please know our Church is here to serve your each and every need. The important thing to keep in mind is that we need everyone to do something.
