St. Demetrios Feast Day

OUR PARISH FEASTDAY

Wednesday, October 25th, Great Vespers and Artoklasia will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. with area Orthodox Clergy. A Reception will follow.

The Artoklasia (Blessing of Five Loaves of Bread) is a brief service of thanksgiving through which we express our gratitude for all the blessings of life. Oil, wine, wheat, and the loaves of bread are offered in the service. They represent most basic elements necessary for life. The Blessing reminds us of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fish by which Christ fed the multitude (Matthew 14:13-21).

Thursday, October 26th, Orthros starts at 9:00 followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m.
