According to the ancient tradition of the Church, the Theotokos was born of barren and aged parents, Joachim and Anna, about the year 16 or 17 before the birth of Christ. Joachim was descended from the royal line of David, of the tribe of Judah. Anna was of the priestly tribe of Levi, a daughter of the priest Matthan and Mary, his wife.
Today we pray for the repose of the souls of the servants of God Melvin Salsman (40 days) & Pandora Skourtas (6 months). May their memory be eternal.

We are so excited to begin another year of Panagia's Little Lambs- Assumption's Parent and Me Ministry. Our first class will meet on Wednesday, September 18 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Church. We are looking forward to seeing all of our little ones and how much they have grown over the summer; and especially looking forward to meeting new faces. Moms, dads, yiayias, papous and caretakers are all welcome to bring our youngest church goers to learn our Orthodox faith through song, dance, movement and crafts.
