His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America welcomed Katherine Orfanakos Demacopoulos to the Archdiocese of America on October 5, 2023, to re-appoint her as National Chairperson of the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival.  This ecclesiastical year marks the 40th anniversary of this beautiful ministry of our Church, which was created by Ernest Villis, then director of the Department of Religious Education, and Minerva Stergianopoulos. Katherine’s parents, Fr. John and Presvytera Margaret Orfanakos served as National Chairpersons of the Oratorical Festival from 1986 through 2018. Also in the meeting was His Grace Bishop Athenagoras, Director of Religious Education for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. 

CHICAGO (October 4, 2023)—The National Hellenic Museum (NHM) in Chicago is offering free admission to all visitors on Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15, 2023, as an official partner site for the Chicago Architecture Center’s Open House Chicago weekend. NHM is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on both dates, and admission includes access to the museum’s permanent collection, rooftop deck and current exhibitions throughout the museum: Hellenic Heads by George Petrides, Gather Together: Chicago Street Photography by Diane Alexander White and Legacy, Renewal & Unity: Celebrating 100 Years of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, which includes the special exhibit Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate: Protecting the Future of Faith.  

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America is pleased to announce that he will be leading pilgrimage which will include visits to Mouth Athos, Thessaloniki and the Monastery of Ormylia.
