Εισόδια της Θεοτόκου

Αυτές τις ημέρες η Εκκλησία τιμά την μεγάλη εορτή των Εισοδίων της Θεοτόκου. Είναι μια ξεχωριστή γιορτή μέσα από την οποία προαναγγέλλεται η εορτή των Χριστουγέννων. Στο τροπάριο της εορτής ακούμε:  «Σήμερον τῆς εὐδοκίας Θεοῦ τὸ προοίμιον, καὶ τῆς τῶν ἀνθρώπων σωτηρίας ἡ προκήρυξις. Ἐν Ναῷ τοῦ Θεοῦ τρανῶς ἡ Παρθένος δείκνυται, καὶ τὸν Χριστὸν τοῖς πᾶσι προκαταγγέλλεται. Αὐτῇ καὶ ἡμεῖς μεγαλοφώνως βοήσωμεν· Χαῖρε τῆς οἰκονομίας τοῦ Κτίστου ἡ ἐκπλήρωσις».

Η Παναγία έρχεται στο Ναό και μένει στο πιο ιερό μέρος του Ναού, που ονομαζόταν το Άγιο των Αγίων. Οι γονείς Της, ο Ιωακείμ και η Άννα, την οδηγούν. Ήταν τριων χρονών όταν πήγε εκεί και βγήκε όταν ήταν δεκαπέντε ετών. Η είσοδος της Παναγίας στο Ναό ήταν μέρος του σχεδίου του Θεού, που ολοκληρώθηκε με την Γέννηση του Κυρίου. Γι’ αυτό και από σήμερα ψάλλουμε τις Καταβασίες «Χριστός γεννάται δοξάσατε,  Χριστός επί γης υψώθητε». Με την ευκαιρία αυτή θα είναι καλό να τονίσουμε πόσο σημαντικό είναι οι γονείς να πηγαίνουν τα παιδιά τους στην εκκλησία. Επίσης, είναι σημαντικό να αναγνωρίζουν ότι ο Θεός δίνει τα παιδιά και Αυτός τα προστατεύει. Είναι αυτό που σύμφωνα με την Παλαιά Διαθήκη, στο βιβλίο της Γένεσης, η Εύα ομολόγησε όταν απέκτησε το πρώτο της παιδί, τον Κάϊν. Η Εύα είπε: Απέκτησα παιδί με την βοήθεια του Θεού.  Αυτό ας είναι βαθιά συναίσθηση των γονέων.

Στους ύμνους της εορτής των Εισοδίων της Παναγίας, ο υμνογράφος ονομάζει την Παναγία θεοχώρητο ναό. Δηλαδή, εκκλησία που χώρεσε τον Θεό. Και αυτό έγινε επειδή φύλαξε την ψυχή της καθαρή. Ο Χριστιανός καλείται να γίνει όπως η Παναγία, ένας Ναός και να λάβει μέσα του τον Χριστό. Μέσα σε αυτο τον Ναό δεν έχει θέση η ακαθαρσία, το μίσος, ο εγωισμός, και τα διάφορα πάθη που παραμορφώνουν και καταστρέφουν την ψυχή. Έτσι, αγαπητοί μου αδελφοί, θα έλθει ο Ιησούς Χριστός που είναι η πηγή της σωτηρίας και της ζωής, η χαρά και η ευλογία στη ζωή όλων μας. Αμήν.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~    EntryoftheTheotokos
These days the Church celebrates the great feast of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos. It is a special holiday through which the celebration of Christmas is announced. In the hymn of the feast, we hear: “Today is the prelude of God's good pleasure, and the proclamation of humanity's salvation. In the temple of God, the Virgin is presented openly, and in herself she announces Christ to all. Let us, then, with a great voice cry aloud to her: "Rejoice, you are the fulfillment of the Creator's dispensation."
The Virgin Mary comes to the Temple and lives in the holiest part of the Temple, which was called the Holy of Holies. Her parents, Joachim and Anna, lead her. She was three years old when she went there and left when she was fifteen years old. The entry of the Virgin Mary to the Temple was part of God's plan, which ended with the Nativity of the Lord. That is why from today till the last day of the Christmas period, we chant the hymn “Christ is born, glorify Him now, Christ is on the earth be you exalted". On this occasion it will be good to emphasize how important it is for parents to lead their children to church. It is also important for them to recognize that God gives children and that He protects them. This is what, according to the Old Testament, in the book of Genesis, Eve confessed when she had her first child, Cain. Eve said: “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man”. Let this be a deep awareness to all parents.
In the hymns of the feast of the Entry of the Virgin Mary, the hymn writer calls the Virgin Mary a temple that contains God. And this was because she kept her soul pure. The faithful is requested to become like the Virgin Mary, a Temple, and to receive Christ in them. In this Temple there is no place for impurity, hatred, selfishness, and the various passions that distort and destroy the soul. This way, my dear brethren, Jesus Christ will come and He is the source of salvation and life, joy and blessing in the lives of us all. Amen.
Hymns of the Day
Resurrectional Apolytikion in the Plagal 1st Tone
As the Father and Spirit are unoriginate, * so the Word, who was born from the Virgin for us. * Let us praise Him, O believers, and let us worship Him. * For our salvation He was pleased * to be crucified in the flesh, * and to undergo death, * and to resurrect the dead, by His glorious resurrection. Τὸν συνάναρχον Λόγον Πατρὶ καὶ Πνεύματι, τὸν ἐκ Παρθένου τεχθέντα εἰς σωτηρίαν ἡμῶν, ἀνυμνήσωμεν πιστοὶ καὶ προσκυνήσωμεν· ὅτι ηὐδόκησε σαρκί, ἀνελθεῖν ἐν τῷ Σταυρῷ, καὶ θάνατον ὑπομεῖναι, καὶ ἐγεῖραι τοὺς τεθνεῶτας, ἐν τῇ ἐνδόξῳ ἀναστάσει αὐτοῦ.
Apolytikion for Afterfeast of the Entry of the Theotokos in the 4th Tone
Today is the prelude of God’s good pleasure, and the proclamation of humanity’s salvation. In the temple of God, the Virgin is presented openly, and in herself she announces Christ to all. Let us, then, with a great voice cry aloud to her: “Rejoice, you are the fulfillment of the Creator’s dispensation.” Σήμερον τῆς εὐδοκίας Θεοῦ τὸ προοίμιον, καὶ τῆς τῶν ἀνθρώπων σωτηρίας ἡ προκήρυξις. Seasonal Kontakion in the 4th Tone
The Savior’s most pure and immaculate temple, the very precious bridal chamber and Virgin, who is the sacred treasure of the glory of God, on this day is introduced into the House of the Lord, and with herself she brings the grace in the divine Spirit. She is extolled by the Angels of God. A heavenly tabernacle is she. Ὁ καθαρώτατος ναὸς τοῦ Σωτῆρος, ἡ πολυτίμητος παστὰς καὶ Παρθένος, τὸ ἱερὸν θησαύρισμα τῆς δόξης τοῦ Θεοῦ, σήμερον εἰσάγεται, ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Κυρίου, τὴν χάριν συνεισάγουσα, τὴν ἐν Πνεύματι Θείῳ· ἣν ἀνυμνοῦσιν Ἄγγελοι Θεοῦ· Αὕτη ὑπάρχει σκηνὴ ἐπουράνιος.
Saints and Feasts
November 24
13th Sunday of Luke
November 24
Our Holy Father Clement, Pope of Rome
Saint Clement was instructed in the Faith of Christ by the Apostle Peter. He became Bishop of Rome in the year 91, the third after the death of the Apostles. He died as a martyr about the year 100 during the reign of Trajan.
November 24
Peter, Archbishop of Alexandria
Saint Peter illustriously occupied the throne of Alexandria for twelve years, and, as Eusebius says, "was a divine example of a bishop on account of the excellence of his life and his study of the sacred Scriptures" (see Eusebius, Eccl. Hist., Book VII, 3 2; Book VIII 11, 13; and Book IX, 6). He excommunicated Arius for his sympathy with the Meletian schism. When Arius learned that Saint Peter had been imprisoned, he sent many priests and deacons to him, asking that he receive him back into the communion of the Church before his martyrdom. When the ambassadors of Arius, who had not, like Saint Peter, perceived the ruin he would engender, were astonished at the vehemence with which Saint Peter refused to receive Arius again, he revealed to them a dread vision he had seen, in which the Master Christ had appeared to him as a child wearing a garment torn from head to foot. When Saint Peter asked the Lord who rent His garment, the Lord answered that it was Arius, and that he must not be received back into communion. The holy hieromartyr Peter was beheaded during the reign of Maximinus in the year 312; he is called the "Seal of the Martyrs," because he was the last Bishop of Alexandria to suffer martyrdom under the pagan Emperors. His successors to the throne of Alexandria, Saints Alexander and Athanasius the Great, brought to final victory the battle against Arius' heresy which Saint Peter had begun.
Gospel and Epistle Readings
Epistle Reading
Prokeimenon. Plagal 1st Tone. Psalm 11.7,1.
You, O Lord, shall keep us and preserve us.
Verse: Save me, O Lord, for the godly man has failed.
The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 6:11-18.
Brethren, see with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh that would compel you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. For even those who receive circumcision do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may glory in your flesh. But far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule, upon the Israel of God. Henceforth let no man trouble me; for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.
Gospel Reading
13th Sunday of Luke
The Reading is from Luke 18:18-27
At that time, a ruler came to Jesus and asked him, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.' " And he said, "All these I have observed from my youth." And when Jesus heard it, he said to him, "One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." But when he heard this he became sad, for he was very rich. Jesus looking at him said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Those who heard it said, "Then who can be saved?" But he said, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."
