Holy Trinity GOC Greek School
The Greek School of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church offers children and adults the opportunity to learn the Modern Greek language and become familiar with Greek culture and history. Students develop reading, writing, and speaking skills in Greek while also learning about their cultural heritage. All classes are offered online and are open to everyone in the greater Roanoke area, with priority given to members of our parish. Please note that we teach Modern Greek, not Koine (New Testament) Greek. Children need to be able to read and write in English before enrolling.

Big Fat Greek Drive-Thru
The Big Fat Greek Drive-Thru is right around the corner! It’s time to start thinking about volunteering for our largest fundraiser of the year! The Drive-thru will be held on September 25, 26 & 27.

Sign up today at https://bit.ly/4oZyPW4 or stop by the volunteer table in the Fellowship Hall each Sunday to sign up in person. Please volunteer as much time as possible! All baking and workdays are listed on the church’s online calendar. Mark your calendar for these IMPORTANT DATES.

One great way to promote our event is by sharing billstuffers and posters with your friends, family, and community. You can find all the printed materials on the table at the entrance of the Fellowship Hall. It takes everyone’s effort to promote our event!

· CHURCH DUMPSTER GUIDELINES
The GFL dumpster located in the church parking lot is designated exclusively for church-related
events. It is NOT INTENDED for personal use or disposal of household items. Please continue
to place ALL COFFEE HOUR TRASH IN THE CITY TRASH CANS, NOT IN THE
DUMPSTER.
The church is responsible for all dumpster service and disposal costs. We have recently noticed
items being discarded that do not appear to be related to church functions. At this time, there
should be NO TRASH PLACED IN THE DUMPSTER. Because of the summer heat, trash
can quickly create unpleasant odors. In addition, the dumpster is serviced only when it reaches
capacity, making it important that it be used only for its intended purpose.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation in helping keep our church grounds clean and ensuring
that the dumpster remains available for church-related events.

Communion
For those visiting an Orthodox Church for the first time, please be aware that Holy Communion is a sign of unity of faith, which is only offered to Baptized and Chrismated Orthodox Christians. However, all are welcome to come forward and receive the antidoron (or blessed bread) which is distributed at the end of the service.
Fellowship
Following Divine Liturgy, we invite you to join us for fellowship and refreshments in our hall. Please introduce yourself to one of our Parish Council or welcoming committee members who are gathered near the candle stand in the entrance area, so that we may have the chance to greet and welcome you properly. We strongly encourage you to fill out a Welcome to our Church form.
Office Hours
Fr. Theodore Lyketsos is our parish priest. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 9am until 2pm. Confession is available by appointment during this time as well as after Vespers on Saturday. If a need/emergency arises please contact the Church Office

You, O Lord, shall keep us and preserve us.
Verse: Save me, O Lord, for the godly man has failed.

The reading is from St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 1:21-24; 2:1-4.

Brethren, it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has commissioned us; he has put his seal upon us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

But I call God to witness against me - it was to spare you that I refrained from coming to Corinth. Not that we lord it over your faith; we work with you for your joy, for you stand firm in your faith. For I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit. For if I cause you pain, who is there to make me glad but the one whom I have pained? And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all. For I wrote you out of much affliction and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to cause you pain but to let you know the abundant love that I have for you.

The Lord said this parable, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a marriage feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast; but they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have made ready my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves are killed, and everything is ready; come to the marriage feast.' But they made light of it and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the thoroughfares, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find.' And those servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; so the wedding hall was filled with guests.

But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment; and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and cast him into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.' For many are called, but few are chosen."

Let us worship the Word, O ye faithful, praising Him that with the Father and the Spirit is co-beginningless God, Who was born of a pure Virgin that we all be saved; for He was pleased to mount the Cross in the flesh that He assumed, accepting thus to endure death. And by His glorious rising, He also willed to resurrect the dead.
