Beloved Parishioners and Friends:
I wish you a blessed and peaceful New Year and Holy Epiphany! Looking forward to this Sunday, Jan. 8, in addition to our wonderful Sunday School classes, we'll mark this holy season with the Water Blessing/Agiasmo Service of Epiphany, and I will look forward to blessing you all alongside Fr. Manny.
And speaking of Fr. Manny, he celebrated his 65th birthday on Dec. 28. Please make sure to wish him well when you see him. Father is a beloved member of our parish family, along with Pres. Lia and their children and grandchildren. I am thankful for his presence, service, expertise and love at Saint Gregory--I know you feel the same. Happy Birthday, Father!
Finally, as I mentioned to our faithful last Sunday, I am in Atlanta this week for a class I need to take for my ongoing graduate studies. While I'm far away, be sure to let me know of any pastoral needs that arise, and please know that you remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Looking forward to seeing you Sunday,
Fr. Alex

Eighth Orthros Gospel
The Reading is from John 20:11-18
At that time, Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb, and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus has lain, one at the head and one at the feet. They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him." Saying this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?" Supposing Him to be the gardener, she said to Him, "Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away." Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, "Rabboni," which means Teacher. Jesus said to her, "Do not touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God." Mary Magdalene went and said to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord," and she told them that He had said these things to her.
Sunday after Epiphany
The Reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 4:7-13
BRETHREN, grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it is said, "When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men." (in saying, "He ascended," what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is he who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
Sunday after Epiphany
The Reading is from Matthew 4:12-17
At that time, when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee; and leaving Nazareth he went and dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: "The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned." From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
Saint George lived about the beginning of the ninth century in Palestine, in a certain monastery called Hozeva, which lies in a great ravine between Jerusalem and Jericho.
Saint Domnica was from Carthage. During the reign of the Emperor Theodosius the Great, she came with four other virgins to Constantinople, where she was baptized by Nectarius, the Patriarch of Constantinople. She remained in Constantinople and became known for her extreme asceticism, the miracles that she worked, and the grace of prophecy that adorned her. She lived until the days of the Emperors Leo and Zeno, reposing in peace about the year 474.

Following Divine Liturgy, our 2023 Parish Council members will take the Parish Council Pledge of the Archdiocese, acknowledging the sacred duty before them in service to the Gospel. Congratulations to them all: Joe Caradonna, Lou Douvris, Steve Drugas, Dean Jumes, Brian Kaufman, Stephan Katinas, Phil LaFond, Chris Mellen and Maria Sweten. Further, we offer our gratitude to outgoing members Karen Guinan and Rich Vinton for their loving service.
PARISH VASILOPITA, JAN 15

FEAST DAY OF SAINT GREGORY, JAN 24, 25 & 29
We look forward to our feast day celebrations later this month. Please join us for as many of these important moments for our parish family as you can, as we give thanks for the great spiritual guidance of Saint Gregory the Theologian and celebrate our parish’s rich liturgical and ministry life:
STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY REFLECTIONS
Many thanks to our Stewardship Committee and all of our parish Stewards for the reflective and inspirational events of Stewardship Sunday back in December. As we move into the new year, we now kindly ask our Stewards to read over our 2023 materials package and prayerfully complete and return 2023 Commitment Cards at their earliest convenience. This not only helps us plan for and support our parish ministries but is a visible symbol of our Eucharistic community: united in worship and dedication to the Gospel. The Stewardship pages of our parish website will soon be updated with our 2023 materials, and please let Stewardship Chair Phil LaFond (phil@lafonds.net) know if you did not receive your new Stewardship package yet. Many thanks to all for their commitment to Saint Gregory!
USHERING AND "RIDES TO CHURCH" MINISTRIES
This spring and summer, those interested in our Ushering Ministry are invited to contact George Dimitriou: 781-769-2085; Gdimitriou@yahoo.com. Offering yourself as an usher is a wonderful way to meet new people and helps create a welcoming environment at Saint Gregory. Throughout the coming months, we will also reinvigorate our efforts to provide rides to church for anyone who needs one. Once again, contact George Dimitriou if you could use a “lift” or would like to help drive.
LITURGICAL SINGING
This ministry engages musical leadership not only for Sunday liturgy but all the liturgical needs of the year, from Vespers services to Great Lent and Holy Week. Your time and talent is most welcome within our Liturgical Singing Ministry. Please contact Kathy Kalogeras to learn more: kalogeras1@earthlink.net.
MYRHHBEARERS MINISTRY
Within the context of our fledling Myrrhbearers Ministry, our girls and young women are invited to hold Antidoro during Divine Liturgy, read the Epislte and otherwise participate in the entire life of the Church. Please contact Eleni LaFond to pick a date for Antidoro service and Fr. Alex to plan a date for an Epistle reading.
FELLOWSHIP HOUR & SPONSORSHIPS
Join us in the hall for Fellowship Hour following Divine Liturgy after Sunday services. We are also welcoming sponsors for Sundays this summer. Please sign up this Sunday during Fellowship Hour or simply contact the Church Office.
