Our righteous Mother Hilda was of noble birth, being a kinswoman of Saint Edwin, King of Northumbria (celebrated Oct. 12). At the age of thirty-three she renounced the world, and lived another thirty-three years as a nun and abbess. The last six years of her life she suffered a burning fever with patience and nobility, and reposed in peace in the year 680.
According to the tradition of the Church, the Theotokos was brought to the Temple at three years of age, where she was consecrated to God and spent her days until she was fourteen or fifteen years old; and then, as a mature maiden, by the common counsel of the priests (since her parents had reposed some three years before), she was betrothed to Joseph.
Saint Cecilia was of an illustrious Roman family. On being betrothed to Valerian, she drew him to the Faith of Christ, and he in turn drew his own brother Tiburtius to the same. They contested in martyrdom during the reign of Diocletian, in the year 288.

The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 2:16-20.
Brethren, knowing that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified. But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we ourselves were found to be sinners, is Christ then an agent of sin? Certainly not! But if I build up again those things which I tore down, then I prove myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

The Lord said this parable: "The land of a rich man brought forth plentifully; and he thought to himself, 'What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?' And he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, 'Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul is required of you; and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." As he said these things, he cried out: "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

Axios! to the newly ordained Deacon Alexis Clodfelter, who was ordained to the Deaconate yesterday! Congratulations to the entire Clodfelter-Scott family on the baptism of Delaney and Dn Alexis' third child, Cecilia! May God grant them all many years and a blessed and fruitful ministry in the vineyard of our Lord!
This Thursday the 21st is the Feast marking the entry of the Theotokos into the Temple, when she was brought as a young girl to live in the Temple until she was 12 years old. We will celebrate the Feast with Orthros and the Divine Liturgy on Wednesday evening (replacing Paraklesis) starting at 5:30pm.
The bookstore now has three ways to self-service pay: 1. You may fill out a slip and put cash in the lock box. 2. If you're comfortable with our new digital device (located on the front of the jewelry cabinet) you may pay with a card, or 3. We still accept I.O.U.'s, but prefer the options above! Thank you!
The election for our Parish Council will take place on Sunday, December 1st. There are three open spots on the council to be filled by three of the following persons:
Elizabeth Feucht-Papacostas, Mark Keogh, Aaron Novak, Sarah Menegatos, Todd OBannion, and Don Varlamos.
All parish Stewards are eligible to vote. No proxy voting is allowed, but you can request a mail-in ballot and instructions for yourself (not for another person) from Paul Cooley. Voting will close at the end of Coffee Hour on Sunday. All Parish Council members must pass a background check and participate each year in the Archdiocese's Youth Safety Training, or they cannot serve.
On Black Friday, November 29th Thomaida Hudanish of Beauty First Films will be here to screen their documentary film on the life and glorification of one of the newest saints of our Church Saint Amphilokios Makris of Patmos. The film is in Greek and English and has beautiful footage of the island of Patmos, along with interviews with the residents there who had a relationship with Saint Amphilokios before his repose. The film will be screened (for free) at the Loussac Library at 7pm. Thomaida will be with us to share more about Saint Amphilokios and to answer questions. Please come and join us!
It is holiday baklava time again! We will be making it on Black Friday, November 29, starting at 9am and would love to have as many hands as can to help! We will be packaging the following day, also starting at 9am.
We also need your help selling them to friends, co-workers, family and anyone who may be interested. The price is $35 per dozen and they will be available December 1, 2024. We will also be selling them at the Christmas Bazaar in our church hall on December 7, 2024. Your friends and family can pick them up on that day from 10am to 5pm as well as shop at the bazaar. Please consider helping bake on November 30 and package on December 1, 2024 starting at 9am if you can. It is always a good time for all who come to help out. It is a great way to get to know others better, just ask anybody who has been around awhile!

Friday, December 6th is our Annual Saint Nicholas Family Night starting at 6pm. We will have a service to St Nicholas, a memorial for our great benefactor Nikolaos Kollias, activities for the children, a gift drive for families in need, and Christmas carols around the bonfire! Make sure not to miss this favorite evenings of the year!
Saturday, December 14th we will have our first Men's Fellowship Breakfast at the church from 7-8:30am. We are revamping our Men's Ministry around service projects and fellowship. We want ALL of the men in the parish to participate - we NEED you! Please put this on your calendar and plan to come and fellowship with us.
