Sunday School News: our Sunday School students are invited to join in the Procession of the Holy Cross this morning, which will occur at the end of the Divine Liturgy.
Sunday of the Holy Cross: at the conclusion of this morning's Divine Liturgy we will have the Procession of the Life-Giving Cross through our Temple. The Life-giving Cross of Salvation is carried in procession around the Church on a bed of jonquils. The jonquils (and/or daffodils) are chosen because as the first flowers of spring, the time when nature is reborn, they remind us of the Holy Resurrection. We do this because as Orthodox Christians, we cannot think of the Cross without remembering the Resurrection! We cannot imagine the death and the passions of Christ without having in mind the empty tomb radiating hope. Christ’s death has no meaning without His Resurrection. As is customary in our community, we invite the faithful to make an offering of jonquils or daffodils to decorate the Holy Cross - they should be brought by the time of the preceding Saturday's Great Vespers at 5:00 PM. Please speak with Father Andreas if you have any questions.
Holy Confession: during the season of Holy & Great Lent, the mysterion (sacrament) of Holy Confession is offered following the Monday evening Great Compline service. Confessions can also be heard throughout the week by appointment as well.
Parish Assembly: the Parish Council has voted to hold the Spring Parish Assembly on the Sunday of St Mary of Egypt, April 21, following the Divine Liturgy.
Greek Food for Eclipse: if eclipse-chasing is making you hungry, stop by Nikos' Souvlaki on Sunday April 7 and Monday April 8, noon to 6pm. On the menu: Gyros (Lamb), Chicken Souvlaki, Pork Souvlaki, Falafel Tahini, Hot Dogs all beef (quarter lbs.), homemade Spanakopita, homemade Baklava, soda sand water. You can find the cart by following your nose to the parking lot of the Dormition Greek Church (30 Ledge Road, Burlington). Nikos' Souvlaki, owned by our PC member Sotos Pappaseraphim, is donating all proceeds from this 100% outdoors event to the church. Please note: due to liability concerns and preparing/serving non-Lenten foods this is not an official parish event.
