Vasilopita Sunday

On Sunday, January 8 we will celebrate the New Year as a Parish Family with the cutting of the Parish Vasilopita, with a luncheon offered by the Philoptochos. Your generous offerings this day will be sent to support St. Basil's Academy, one of the important ministries of the Archdiocese..

2017 Parish Council

The new Parish Council will make the Affirmation of Office on Sunday, January 8 at the end of Liturgy. Please pray for the new Council that the Holy Spirit will guide our deliberations for the good and growth of the Church in Concord.

Words and Wings

We will begin our Words and Wings meetings in February. Our next meeting is Sunday, February 12 at 5:30 pm at Sal's Pizza.

Stewardship Sunday

We will be making our Stewardship Offering as a Parish Family on Sunday, January 14 at the end of the Divine Liturgy. You will soon be receiving in the mail your Stewardship Form. Please prayerfull and thoughtfully consider what return you can make to God from all that He has given you. Your Stewardship Offering is important for paying the bills of the Church, for keeping open an Orthodox presence in the Concord area for generations to come. We do ask that you consider making at least an offering of $10 a week. If you bring this offering to the Church once a week or even once a month it is not a great burden for most people!

This mailing also contains the Christmas Offering envelope. We appreciate your generous gift to your Parish Family for Christmas!

House Blessings

With the New Year comes the great feast of Theophany and the Great Blessing of Water. It is traditional for Orthodox Christians to invite the priest to their homes and places of business to ask God's blessings on them for the coming year. This is not a superstitious act of magic, but a prayer consecrating our life and our possessions to God, reminding us that all comes from God and all is required of us for His Kingdom. You will find a form for scheduling a House Blessing in this Bulletin. Please fill it out with the best times for you and give it to Father or a Council Member.

Warm Clothing Drive

As the colder weather reminds us that there are many people in our own community who do not have anything to protect them from the cold. Today we will start up our warm clothing collection: coats, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, etc. Go through your closets, as St. Basil said, and see what is "molding" there that you no longer use. Make sure they are in good repair and clean. Also, many things can be gotten new at a dollar store. We want to get the clothes to those in need before Christmas.

 As we approach the colder weather, our thoughts turn to the needy and hungry. Our weekly food collection has been waning during the summer; now is the time to increase our efforts, to do our "Lazaros shopping" each week, and to bring in canned goods and household items for those in need. We would also like to revive our toiletries collection to make toiletrie bags for the homeless to help them get into a good shape for interviews for housing and jobs. Please bring in items such as shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, combs, deodorant, and other such items (please, regular sizes, not sample sizes!) and put them in the box in the narthex. Let's try to get some more toiletrie bags to the Center to Prevent Homelessness!

During the winter months, the Center to Prevent Homelessness has partner churches who open their facilities for the homeless to stay over night. Although our hall is not really good for that, we do have the opportunity to offer volunteer service to help out. More information for volunteering and for donations will be coming.

We will also soon be beginning our coat and warm outer clothing drive soon. Please check through your closets and see what items in good repair you have that you no longer need, but that could keep someone warm this winter.

Social Media

We are trying to improve our social media presence in order to give a special place to our witness to Christ and our Faith on the Internet. We are appealing to you for a number of things to help:

1) If you have an email address, and are not yet on the listserv (i.e. you are not receiving the weekly or monthly bulletin by listserv) please give your email address to Father.

2) If you are not yet on Facebook, make a page for yourself. You do not need to use it, but it will enable you to have access to our Parish Facebook page with its information and messages.

3) If you are on Facebook, please like our Parish page (Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Concord). Some of you have already received invitations to like the page and have not yet responded. Please make sure to respond! Among other things, Father is planning a once a month a Stump the Priest Question and Answer Hour using Facebook Live. You need to have liked the Church page in order to access this and other information.

4) If you are on Twitter, please follow the Parish's page @Holy_Trinity_NH. There will be various messages as well as information about the parish and the local community, and educational posts about the Orthodox Faith. If you aren't on Twitter, sign up! Again, you don't need to use it, but it will give you access to information from the Parish.

5) Make sure to visit our website, holytrinitynh.org. The site will soon be under further construction to expand its scope.

Electronic Monthly Bulletin

In the Monthly Bulletin you received in the mail is an insert asking whether you would like to continue receiving the Bulletin by mail or if you would like to receive it ONLY by email. This is an effort to reduce costs of paper, printing and mailing. If you want to have a print version, you can print the PDF that you receive by email. Please bring these forms to the Church and put them in the box at the Pangari, or mail them to the Church: Holy Trinity GOC, 68 N. State St., Concord, NH 03301. Thank you for your cooperation.

Are you in need of devotional items, like censers, incense, oil lamps, prayer ropes (koumboskinia)? Check out our new Holy Trinity Store. With time we will be expanding the available items and will even be including books to purchase. We are also establishing a lending library.
